2 year Update: I still love this tent. We have used this tent A LOT!! We have used this tent in all types of weather: hot humid days, wind, rain, cold, snow, sleet, everything. It has held up very well. No rips or tears. No problems at all. Upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars.I love this tent. A lot of good things 2 minor annoying things. On a recent trip to Florida we used this tent in conjunction with our 2013 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. It fit the back of the van perfectly and hooked up nice and snug fairly quickly. It was easy to hook into and unhook when we wanted to go into town or drive somewhere. During our stay there were some massive rain storms with heavy wind. The wind was relentless. The tent had no problems. It stayed put and there were no tears or holes from the pounding. During the rain everything stayed dry and there were no leaks, drips, or condensation on the interior of the tent. It worked perfectly. The only 2 minor things about the tent that need improvement were: the zipper for the front door catches when you try to zip/unzip the tent and the mesh that holds the poles catches the poles making it a little annoying when putting the tent up and taking it down. Overall a great tent. Plenty of interior room with a tall ceiling.
I am a single women who has not camped in a tent, ever. The first time I put it up it took 3hours to set up, and 2 hours to break it down. The second time I used it, it took me 45minutes to put it up, with no help. I highly recommend this tent to anyone who needs a little luxury when camping, especially if you are planning on camping alone. An absolutely wonderful tent!
Easy to set up, well-constructed tent. Roomy, tall people can stand up inside. One problem I encountered had nothing to do with the tent: our 2010 Rav4 has a feature that leaves some internal lights on if any door is ajar, including the hatch. This feature cannot be disabled, so you risk running down the car battery if the rear hatch is left open all night. Maybe other car models don't have this problem. Check your car first before buying. If you can solve this problem for your car, then definitely buy this tent.
I just got back from my first camping trip using Rightline Gear camping tent with my JK Jeep and it worked perfect !
Have only set up once, but did so in approximately 25 minutes. I don't have much tent experience, so the initial setup was slow. I suspect the next time will go at least 1/3 quicker. It fit my 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door with Gobi Rack perfectly. A really nice little camping addition for the rig.It seems well constructed and seals well to the vehicle. There is even enough room to have the tailgate open with a bike on the rack, (have to be careful not to rip the tent when pulling around the bike).I'll be using it next week and will update this review.UPDATED:Quick update...I've been very happy with this product. I've set it up and used it on a number of occasions. I also had occasion to make a warranty claim (with less than a month to go) and received outstanding customer support.Tent is ideal for my use and love that it can be detached from the vehicle and left in place.I had to sections of a support pole snap. In all fairness it was in a thunderstorm and the winds were quite extreme. As mentioned above...Rightline customer service (Brian) was fantastic. The tent goes up fairly easy, (easier with 2 on a windy day). Can easily be detached and re-attached. Keeps the interior of the vehicle and tent quite dry (when used with optional rain fly). All zippers, pulls, and screens have held up sell over a number of uses.
For 19 years, I said I didn't want to camp. I didn't like sleeping on the ground. This tent solved that problem! I love sleeping in the back of my SUV. I've been out in it twice. Once by myself (friends camped near me using the same tent). As a solo camper, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the tent up myself (I'm a 55yo woman). And I admit the first time (in my driveway) I did struggle for an hour. But once I got the hang of it, I'm now able to put the tent up by myself in about 10-15minutes. Of course it's always easier with help. The tent is spacious (lots of room for ground sleepers). It fits snuggle to my 2007 Saturn VUE and my friend's 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I love that it completely zips shut so you can leave it during the day.The only two things I would change: 1) the side straps need wider hooks (I struggle to attach it to my wheel well). and 2) the tent stakes are cheap and bend easily. I had to buy new stakes.
