If you are concerned about your water usage, this product will give you information about amount and flow rates. Helps to track water usage anomalies and keeps track of all water usage. The dashboard provides a high level overview including at a glance whether the water is running, as well as other information. (See attached image) Detail screen also available that allows you to usage on a very granular basis. You can view data in realtime and also download slice and dice data in csv format.Alerts can be set by user based on their criteria.Customer support both pre-sale and post-sale is excellent.Flume portal provides status of battery at the water meter and bridge.Pros:1. Customer Service is excellent. Had multiple questions and they responded via chat and email to answer them. They also assisted in determining that my meter type would work and report accurately.2. Very easy to install. Unit comes packaged well. Took about 10 minutes to install, including wipe down of water meter. Took longer to download the app and set up the account than to install the system.3. Comes with a t-handle to pull up water meter cover. There are three components - Flume device which straps around water meter, Flume bridge which manages the data between the Flume device and your wireless router to the internet; and the Flume app/portal which is works via IOS, Android and browser.4. Easy to configure both the wireless network part of the product and also the application side. Had set an alert and had forgotten about it. Other evening I manually turned on sprinklers and meant to come back out after 5 minutes. Alert went to my phone indicating that the water had been running. They provide updates within the IOS app about status of products and enhancements that are planned.Cons:Data is kept at their site, although user can always download.Summary:The Flume unit is at the source of the meter and Flume will help to determine if the meter is reading accurately if need be. I looked at some other methods of managing water during my search for a water management product, specifically devices that clamp on to the water pipe inside. User feedback sometime indicated inaccurate flow and difficulty with positioning for flow in interior clamp on devices. Seemed clunky to configure and IF there was a leak between the meter and device, that could be a problem in that the user would not be notified of the leak.Unit works really well and am very satisfied after the first 45 days of use.The company is always soliciting feedback on my experience.I would heartily recommend purchase of the Flume device.

I originally purchased a Flume device for my vacation home. I planned to use it to detect any kind of leak or water that was left on when I was not there. When I got the device I found it really easy to install. It comes with simple easy to read installation directions and a video is available online, if you are a more visual learner. You download the free app to your phone, then scan with your phones camera the QR code on the wireless bridge and the meter reading device. This process syncs the meter reader and the wireless communication bridge together. You then find the water meter on your property and strap the meter reading device to you meter. The strap as well as a pair of gloves to keep your hands clean are included with the package. I am not the handyman type, but the whole process only took me about 10-15 minutes.Since installing the Flume it has given me comfort in knowing that there are no leaks at my vacation home when I am not there. The Flume can be set to send notifications to my phone if there is any kind of a leak, no matter how small. We have very cold winters where the pipes in the house could freeze and result in a water leak with thousands of dollars in damage. With the Flume I can feel safe knowing my vacation home is being monitored 24 hours a day while I am 500 miles away at my permanent home. The Flume has already saved me from a major waste of water and money. I had a shower head valve that needed to be replaced. I called a plumber to change out the valve. When the plumber arrived he went to the garage and turned off the main water to the house while he was working on the shower valve. When he finished the job he turned the water back on and everything appeared to be fine. About 15 minutes later Flume sent me a notice that water had been running continuously for the past 15 minutes. I checked all the faucets and the shower where the valve had been replaced and saw no leaks or running water. I then went down to the garage where the plumber had turned off & on the main water line to the house and noticed that he had not completely turned the main water valve when he left. The result was a water stream from the main water valve below the floor slab in my garage. This is what the Flume had sent me the notification about. I simply adjusted the main water valve handle to its normal position and the water stream stopped. Without the Flume I would never have noticed this leak until I got an astronomical water bill 30 days later. Who knows how much damage could have resulted from the strong water stream running continuously under my garage slab.I have now purchased and installed a second Flume for my permanent home. The phone app can be set up to monitor two Flumes at the same time. It lets me toggle between the readings at my vacation home and my permanent home. The usage data can be seen on my phone based on monthly, daily, hourly and minute time frames. This has really helped me get a handle on my water conservation. I have been able to monitor my landscaping irrigation times and cut down my usage and lowered my water bill at the same time. I love the Flume and would strongly recommend the product.

My end to end experience with Flume was fantastic! The product arrived quickly (on a Sunday even). The packaging was nice and everything needed to complete the installation was included. The Wi-Fi bridge and the sensor unit are robust and of high quality. The app was intuitive and overall installation process was simple. The best part was that as soon as I registered, a live help desk person started a chat session. I didn’t need any real help, but the young woman that helped me was available for a phone call if needed. Very impressive. The Wi-Fi bridge and the meter sensor both connected without any issues. My system is now up and protecting my home. Thank You Flume Team!

Wife and I wanted to make sure our efforts to reduce water usage were having an effect, especially since we recently moved to California where there's a shortage. Flume was just ridiculously easy to set up--the app showed me how to locate my water meter and then all I had to do was strap the device around it and connect the station to my Wifi.Immediately I could see that our hourly usage throughout the day was really low. Awesome! But after a few days Flume was showing me that our total daily usage was triple the average home's usage. That didn't add up, so I scrolled back through the usage history and noticed that we'd spike several hundred gallons of water at 1am some nights. That's when our sprinkler system turns on, but it shouldn't use anywhere near that amount of water so I called the irrigation guys. Sure enough, they found a huge leak that was causing our system to dump a ton of water when it turned on.We shut off the water, the irrigation company repaired the system, and now we're back to a fraction of what we had been using. Without Flume that could have gone on indefinitely. Any property of mine will ALWAYS have a Flume from now on.

After suffering through numerous undetected water leaks, following are the reasons that I found FLUME to be the perfect solution for my needs:* EASY TO INSTALL - Just strap it to the water meter, install the bridge, and FLUME works in minutes without issues* REAL TIME ALERTS - I get alerted immediately on my smartphone if there's a leak* SAVES ME MONEY - Over the years leaks have cost me thousands in water bills and repairs: No more with FLUME* PEACE OF MIND - Finally, I can go out of town and not worry about coming back to a flooded houseI looked at other solutions, but they were too expensive, complicated, and required me to cut my water pipes to install. I've been waiting a long time and FLUME was the perfect answer for me.

Last year I had a major water leak while I was traveling. The sprinklers malfunctioned and ran for days in a row non-stop. I also had a leaking toilet that leaked water over a long period of time. I only discovered the problem the following month when my water bill showed our usage at 1,000 gallons/day. Our average was normally at 200 gallons/day.I bought Flume to make sure I know if this where to ever happen again. The setup was very easy. I downloaded the Flume app, scanned the bar codes on the device and repeater, strapped the device to my water meter, took a photo of the water meter, and voila. I can now see my water usage by the minute, hour, day, week and month.Flume Support contacted me to check if everything was working. I asked them how Flume detected water usage. They said it listens to the magnets inside the water meter. I tested different water flows to see how sensitive it was. When the blue star moves, it shows on my iPhone. That is all I need. Thank you, Flume.

I never give reviews but I would give this 10 stars if I could... First off product was delivered fast and it was easy to set up... There was a little hick up with the connection to the 2.4GHz Wifi signal vs 5GHz but the customer service was great and we worked through it in minutes... I was a little hesitant at first in terms of the accuracy of the device but I "calibrated" the device my self by comparing it to what my water meter read at it was almost dead on in terms of water use.. App is super simple to use and shows you the usage every minute.. Great product that has already paid for itself after alerting me of a leak that would of went unnoticed in my multifamily.

I worked on the software and hardware for a product like this back in the early 2010s so I know how hard it is to build a product like this. In those days we never had the installation as smooth and easy as Flume. The calibration is trivial. My favorite feature is that the data is every minute and pretty much in real time - that is amazing. That's only possible with their architecture using an external bridge (that hooks to your wifi). This is such a great way to solve the problem. The batteries in the meter unit are user replaceable which is also a great feature. The app and alerts and charts and everything just plain work. The only issue you might have is with your utility meter reader coming by and seeing foreign hardware hooked to "their" meter. Flume has addressed this as well as possible with "Do not remove" labels. But back in the days that I was working on products like this we sometimes had hardware confiscated or removed and thrown in the bushes. Talk to your meter reader if needed. Mine is friendly and is ok with me having an external reader (I guess since my utility doesn't provide anything like this - it should). I am going to be away from home for an extended period this year and will be much more relaxed about water usage/leakage now that I have the Flume installed. 5 stars all the way.

I cannot say enough good things about this device. Especially the customer support!!! They are beyond great!I received a phone call one morning from my water company informing me that we had used 36K gallons that month and they were wondering why the increase. We usually use 8-12K. I ordered this unit THAT DAY. The unit cost about 1/2 of what the water bill was that month. So it paid for itself in the first two months IMO. It's our problematic underground "irritation" system that was messing up. The Flume will alert me as soon as usage alerts I have set up are exceeded. And it works flawlessly!!! It has notified me several times of "new" leaks that have occurred. Remember I said "problematic"? If you only knew!!Buy this! You won't regret it! It is truly the best purchase I've made in a long long time!!...now if someone would make one for electric monitoring that worked this well...

Since our utility company sends us the monthly usage stats, we knew how much total water we used. But with the Flume installed, we began to notice patterns in our usage that we have begun to exploit for our advantage. For instance, we have two toddlers and the common sense approach told us that showering them should use less water than drawing baths for them. Right? Wrong. Our kids apparently take way longer showers than we realized and drawing baths for them saved us about 20% water. And it is more fun for the kids. So why not? Also, we saw just how much each head in the sprinkler system uses by replacing every head temporarily with a cap. When the manufacturer boasts that the head can use as little as 0.3 gpm - we didn't know what that really meant. Flume helped us figure that out. (It's the least amount of water you can have as the setting, but since most of our sprinkler heads don't just water 10 degree angles, the actual usage is much, much more.) That helped us decide how much water and money we will willing to spend on maintaining the lawn. Finally, the second day after installing, Flume detected a low leak in the system. After painstakingly going through every possible option and not finding anything, we were surprised that the leak stopped. Ditto after 3 more days. This time we figured out that it was the water softener auto-regenerating. We had no clue that it did that every three days. Now we have more control on that process.Another great setting is that you can set the limits at which Flume sends you a leak notification. Our softener takes just under 3 hours to regenerate. So we simply moved the low leak notification to be sent only if the water continues to flow at low levels for more than 3 hours.Water usage is no longer a black box. Flume gave us absolute control over it. Thank you, Flume!

I read about Flume before my purchase, but it just sounded too simple, but failing to find any real negative comments, I went ahead and made my purchase. That was in February, now almost 2 months later, I’m still excited to see my minute by minute consumption. This things just sits there almost daring me to compare my day to day water consumption. The system itself was just straight forward easy and fast, no technical experience needed at all. Within a few days, I noticed an ever so slight leak, .01 gallons about every 5 to 7 minutes. The obvious choice is, a toilet leak. Checked all those and nothing. A few days later I thought about my sprinkler system might have a water not auto shutting off, so I closed off all water to the sprinkler system and the noted small leake stopped. So one of my 6 sprinkler valves is not closing properly. Not that this is a lot of water loss, but it does point to just how sensitive the Flume device can detect water movement at the water main. And yes, the alerts are easy to set up for almost any given situation. After installing Flume, I found that it was over rating the volume of water consumption, so I filled a gallon bucket full of water, then checked Flume and it indicated almost 3 gallons, so I placed a quick call to Flume support, and within a hour, they make backed changes to correct the error. Bottom line, this is a great system, and for the price, I suspect it will pay for itself in a year or so.

After six weeks with two Flume monitors I am ready to award them 5 stars. Flume earns these stars by having a good product and great service. The setup was straightforward with a little help from their FAQ’s and online chat. I installed my first monitor in my house and quickly identified the major water usage events. In the long run it will be most useful to me as a leak detector, especially if we become snowbirds. The second device monitors the flow in the township hall. Our small town at the edge of the modern world has aging infrastructure. The hall needs a new septic system. The environmental sanitarians initial estimate for the maximum flowrate from the three part-time employees who use the hall seemed excessive. The estimated cost for the new septic system would have placed severe financial stress on the township. So we installed a water meter and Flume monitor to document the flow. Thanks to the ease of access to the data that the app allows, we can now document that the everyday maximum flow from the hall is 1% of the sanitarian’s estimate. In addition we monitored the hall’s water during a reception for 120 people at the end of a stage in a sled dog race. Before the data from the Flume monitor, we had no idea how much water was used for events like this. Now we are trying to see if we can monitor the townships nearly 90 year old water system to detect major leaks. Flume has been very helpful in this effort, another hallmark of a company worthy of support. Like other reviewers, the loss of data from internet connection failures is negative. In our challenging climate the net goes down for a few hours most months. That’s not enough to seriously hamper our use for the monitors.

For a while, I wanted a DIY water monitoring system that is reliable and easy to install. The reason was I had a whole-day toilet leak twice and got a hefty water bill. Finally, I decided to buy Flume since their water monitoring system is easiest to install and supported by all the positive reviews. Money was also a factor in deciding to buy Flume. Flume is not the cheapest but it seems that they back their product really well. After I installed the system first time, it was not reporting water usage accurately. However, next day, Flume rep contacted me and asked how their system was performing. I told him about the inaccurate water usage, and he immediately took actions to fix the issue. All I had to do was taking two pictures of the water meter at different times and sent them to him. On the same day after I sent the pictures, they remotely calibrated the system and now the system is reporting accurately. The service was amazing. For product reliability, it is too early to tell how long it will last. So far, I am really happy about it since I know I will not be surprised when the next water bill comes. BTW, I have no affiliation with Flume or I did not get any promotional offer for this review. I wrote this for their outstanding customer service.

This is a great product with excellent support. Installation on a meter in my basement was easy via the app. The sensor shows a very slow leak (about .02 gallons/minute) that it has taken me some time to track down, but seems to be coming from an old hose bib on the exterior of the house. Tech support reps have responded to my questions via the app and website almost immediately. I've only had the product for a couple of days, but am very happy with all aspects of the Flume so far.

I've long dreamed of a way to track my water usage in real time and detect leaks. After all, how are people supposed to reduce their own usage if all they have is a number like "4 HCF" on their bill? (An HCF is a hundred cubic feet of water or 748 gallons, but why should we have to decode that... and it tells us nothing about where and how we used that water).Flume will give you by-the-minute updates of your water flow. It will compare your daily/weekly/monthly usage to other similar households in your area and alert you of leaks or excessive usage ON YOUR PHONE. It's a game changer. Everyone needs one. Especially in water-scarce places like California.

As our water bill rates have increased during the CA drought, I've become much more interested in our water usage. It was possible, but difficult, to study what was using so much water in the house by manually reading the meter. With smart meters for gas and electric already in use, it seemed ridiculous to not have that level of detail for water.Flume's smart water meter is easy to install - easier if your water box is relatively tidy. It simply straps to the meter and "listens" to the Neptune meter mechanism. The Wi-Fi bridge is about 50 feet from the meter and works fine. The setup is well guided and was reporting water usage within 20-30 min.The mobile app and the desktop website provide great insights to water usage down to the minute. In the first month of use, I recorded the Neptune meter reading at 10501.9 gal while the Flume meter recorded 10496 gal - pretty amazing accuracy. With this high resolution, it is very easy to see water usage by the appliances, showers, sprinklers, and toilets. This was very helpful for adjusting sprinkler station timing since we knew how much water each zone was using. The good news is you gain some real insights to how much water each activity (and family member) uses. The bad news is you might lose your mind trying to micromanage water usage after being horrified by the hundreds of gallons consumed every day.A very interesting capability of this device is being able to detect leaks - small and large. You can be notified from the app about large leaks by amount of water used or total time running - this is great for monitoring for major failures like pipe bursts or stuck/broken valves. You might have to adjust the alert settings because a long sprinkler cycle will trip the default 2 hour limit. In our case, the most insightful finding Flume detected was the 4 gal/hr slow leak in the aging galvanized steel main supply line between the meter and the house. That is a lot of water over the month! We knew a leak was out there, but now we could quantify it.You will enjoy Flume's water meter if you are a fan of gadgets, data, water consciousness, shaming your family of water waste, or monitoring your property from afar. Well designed hardware, easy to operate and enables a modern way to understand how your water is being used.

I purchased 2 of these. One is installed on a residential property and the other is installed on a non-residential property. Both installs were done without issue. In addition to some of the more obvious water usage issues that the Flume can assist you with, I have found it to be very helpful with irrigation systems (both locations where I've installed the Flume have irrigation systems). The non-res property has an 18 zone system, and the Flume has enabled me to identify water waste issues with valves and sprinklers that weren't apparent just by looking at the system in operation. Example: By programming my irrigation controllers to pause for a couple of minutes between each zone, I'm able to see when a valve is closing slowly or leaking; and by looking at each zone's usage, I can identify higher than expected usage -- which can result from cracks, breaks or other damage that can commonly occur. The ability to set up usage alerts has been very helpful to know when water is running continuously or usage is abnormally high.So far, I've been very impressed with the usefulness of my Flume water monitors.
