Outstanding product. I use it to keep my Blanco composite granite sink looking new. After doing the dishes for about a week or so, I rinse the sink with hot water, wipe it dry and wait a bit. I put a little of this food grade mineral oil on a paper towel, rub it on the sink and let it sit a minute or two, then buff with a microfiber cloth. It keeps the sink shiny and looking brand new. In addition, it helps repel water stains. This oil is just the right viscosity to keep the sink in shape without being the least bit sticky. It is a quality product that I recommend. (I also put it on one of my bird feeder poles so the squirrels don’t climb up. It works!????)
I purchased this mineral oil for two primary purposes. The first was to protect my high carbon knives. There are a lot of products that will do this, but many are not food safe. In other applications, that might not be an issue, but I tend to use my knives in a variety of ways, including food prep, especially when I'm camping. It's reassuring to know that I haven't coated my blade with something potentially dangerous. As far as inhibiting rust, time will tell, but I have no reason to doubt this will do the job.The second reason I bought this was to oil my wooden cutting boards. I'd previously used olive oil, but it has a tendency to go rancid, so I don't use it as often as I should. Still, I'd thought my cutting boards were in pretty good shape until I treated the first one with this product. I was pretty amazed at what a difference it made. Plus, it imparted absolutely no smell that I could detect. I'll definitely be oiling them more often now.My only complaint is that the bottle was pretty badly crushed in transit so that it doesn't even stand up. I will no doubt have a major spill at some point because of this. That is probably the fault of the packer or the shipper, though, and has no bearing on the quality of the product.
I received a new bamboo cheese board for Christmas and wanted to protect the wood. Found this Food Grade Mineral oil and applied several coats over a 4-5 day period. This product was perfect for the job. It has protected the wood and in fact looks better with this treatment. Yes it’s an oil you need to apply and I tried paper towel which worked but I felt that by using my bare fingers I could feel and rub the oil in better. Cleaning my hands was simple. So far, I’m very happy with this product and very happy to have it on hand for future treatments. This bottle goes a long way!
I actually bought this to coat several high carbon steel hunting knives that I own that are of very high quality and cannot be allowed to rust. Since I use them with food or that which will be food in the future, I never wanted to use mineral oil because of its petroleum or paraffin base, so I used to use plant based oils like olive oil or vegetable oil. The issue is, those oils go rancid and, when a knife is left in storage coated with those oils, they actually convert into a gummy substance which can harm the high carbon steel.Now I've always been one to take pretty steady care of my tools, but after finding a few of my knives in storage with the above mentioned gummy substance on them, I decided to go with a good food-grade mineral oil. This was one of the first I saw that was highly rated and so I decided to purchase some. Since then, I've coated several of my blades with it. Not only does it last in storage and manages to keep my good blades rust free with ease, it also lubricates and shines their walnut handles very well, preserving their quality.With all of that being said, my favorite part about this oil is that is spreads extremely well. Two or three drops will cover and saturate a huge surface area and after using it on all of my knives every week or two, there is barely less in the bottle than there was when I received it. That's one way to tell that you have quality oil. I'll be buying another backup bottle of this and continue to buy it in the eventual case that either bottle runs out.
This is my first experience using mineral oil for a cutting board. I had always used a bit of mild soap and water, which I now know is damaging to the wood over time. I just purchased a John Boos butcher block kitchen island. It's beautiful, and it's a focal point in my kitchen, so I want to keep it properly maintained. I went online to research different mineral oils, and decided to give Cutting Board's product a try. I am very pleased with their product and will continue to use it in the future.
Unfortunately, I had been neglecting my butcher block island. I found this Food Grade Mineral Oil and applied a generous coat - I was amazed at how it brought the island back to life. I gives a lovely coat to the island and the fact that it is food grade is imperative. It went on easily and looks remarkable. As I mentioned, it truly brought the island back to life. I got two bottles so I could more regularly maintain my block! Thank you for producing such a fabulous oil!!
This is great for getting a new cutting board ready to use and for follow-ups every once in a while. The new board was given to me and I thought before using it I better get it ready. I had an old board this someone give me that had never been seasoned. That was what made me ask for a new one for Christmas. I got started on it right away. Now I use the oil after I clean the board after using it.
