We have 2 of these air purifiers and have had them for about 8 months. They really do work at removing dust. We don't sneeze daily anymore. And 10 year old daughter does not suffer from asthma anymore. We use a Honeywell charcoal pre-filter before the white paper filter and replace the charcoal every 3 months and vacuum the paper filter at that time. It really gets dirty on the charcoal filter, it gets thick with dust and dirt so we know it really does work well. We run these for 24/7 on high and never had any issues. They are worth the cost. But we do highly recommend the charcoal pre-filter as it really keeps the paper filter clean and helps with odor reduction.Took pictures today during 3 month charcoal pre-filter replacement. The 1st picture shows how much dust and pollutants the pre-filter trapped in 3 months. The 2nd pictures shows a new pre-filter after the 3 month replacement.
Really helps by the cats litter box. I have a pair of Maine Coons, and they do tend to have strong litter box odors. (They weigh just over 50# for the pair, big boys to say the least!)
This was our first air purifier purchase and we're glad we purchased this. I never believed in such things and thought our central AC unit and its filter would take care of dust and pollen, etc. But lately, I've been waking up everyday with sore throat and stuffy nose. Some days were worse than others. I am seasonally allergic and have history of asthma. Lately, it was getting worse and I was getting worried as to why this was happening. After doing done searching, stumbled upon air purifiers and ionizers. Reading all the reviews I decided to invest in one in hopes it can help solve my daily sore throat and nose issue. I almost went with an ionizer but after finding out how ionizers work, where they charge the dust particles in the air thereby making them stick to one another and making them heavy where they eventually fall to the ground, I decided to go with the air purifier.Im so glad I purchased this! After first day of use, I felt the difference in the morning. I woke up with clear nose and no sore throat wharsoever. Its been a week and I haven't had an issue with stuufy nose and sore throat since then. So I know it works!I bought this model because it was economical and because of its permanent air filter. I didn't initially trust these devices so I didn't want to sink so much money in them. Also the permanent filter will save money in the long run.So far its been working great with no issues.I leave it at the lowest setting when sleeping at night and its has a pleasant white noise which helps me sleep as well.I decided to check filter after one week and it has more dust collected than my central ac does in a week. So I know it works!I have yet to see how long and well the filter lasts. Some have suggested using a charcoal filter and I might do that.Regardless this works wonders and I sleep much better and wake up feeling much more energized. Im very glad I purchased this.
While this might not be a true hepa, it is what I could afford.I have run this Hamilton Beach TrueAir Allergen-Reducing Ultra Quiet Air Cleaner Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter and Specialized Odor Reducing Filter for Pets (04384) for 4 months and am happy.I keep this in my bedroom, while I am awake I run it on high, when I go to sleep it is on whisper, and if I am just hanging out, medium. I have replaced and vacuumed per the instructions, and have noticed the amount of dust in my room reduce. No pets, no kids, very happy and lives alone. The less amount of dusting I have to do, wonderful now.
FIRST OF ALL A BIG THANK YOU!!!This little air cleaner has made a world of a difference in our home. We live in a pretty old house that's hard to keep clean, due to dust coming in from who knows where and it being uninsolated and drafty, plus we have two short and two long haired cats that shed quite a bit as most indoor cats do. I've had it on since I got it on Nov 3rd. mostly on the medium setting. At first it seemed to be a bit loud on high, but after a few days it isn't that noticeable any more and like I said, I use it on medium. It's just like white background noise. But when I'm dusting, vacuuming and stirring things up, I will take it to that room and I'll turn it up on high and leave it in there for a couple hours before taking it back into the bedroom. It helps clean the air afterwards and makes it much fresher than it was without it. I've had to clean out the pre-filter that's in the front cover several times because it was packed with cat hair and "dust bunnies" that came out from their hiding places!!! Now don't think that this will get all of the hair and dust, but it will help a lot. it's not ment to replace your vacuum!!!I did not use the included carbon filters that came with this unit, cuz they really are not ment to be used with this device I don't think!?!? They actually fit a smaller air cleaner by Hamilton Beach, the "True Air" without a cord that plugs directly into the wall outlet. And I just happened to have this unit from long ago (15 years or so) and ran out of filters, so that was a bonus and nothing wasted.I researched the other filters available and found the Veva 6 pack of precision cut, premium activated carbon filters and it even indicates on the box that they fit this model# 04384 as well as 04383 and the 04386. So I got them at the same time and glad I did! They are the perfect size, covers the whole front of the HEPA style filter and stays in place with the plastic tab holders, without any gaps, unlike the ones provided. And also very affordable. So needless to say, things are a lot less fuzzy and dusty around here now and I may just have to get one or two more for the other rooms. I just want to wait and see our next electrical bill to make sure that it didn't go up to much before doing that, but I doubt it will.Hope this information is of help to anyone considering buying one of these and that my feedback on the filters help you as well. I feel that It is worth doing some research before just getting things that will be used on a daily basis, you should just have to put it together, plug it in and maintain it as directed and not have to worry about it. I am happy that I decided to get one and if you do, I hope it works as good for You too. ☺When I come across really good items, I will go out of my way to share this information and hopefully make it easier for some of You to decide what to get.I was NOT paid or asked to write any of this. It is an honest and true opinion of my own experience with the True Air Pet Air Cleaner.
This machine worked wonders for our household. We adopted a puppy recently and my hubby was not thrilled with the “dog smell” in the house. At first I tried all kinds of air fresheners (Oil’s,candles, misters, you name it) to cover up the smell until I finally decided the only real cure was to clean the air. So I bought the Hamilton Beach Air purifier pet version. We placed it right next to the dog crate (and I mean immediately next to the dog crate). It has three settings 1. Whisper Clean (quiet mode), 2. Medium mode, and 3. Quick Clean (loud mode). Since it was a new acquisition to our household we knew that we needed it on the quick clean loud highest setting at first to clean the air. We turned it on for about two hours and instantly the room no longer smelled of dog. We were amazed. It only took two hours for a room approximately 15 x 20. After that, we switched the setting on to whisper quiet clean mode and you can’t even hear it-it is so quiet! We keep it on the quiet mode all the time. We never turn it off. The only time we turn it on high is when the puppy goes outside and sweats a lot and comes in smelling like he needs a bath immediately! We then turn on the air purifier to quick clean mode and the room air is instantly cleaned. The only thing left to do after that is clean the dog!
I bought this Hamilton Beach Allergen Reducer air filter to help with airborne allergens and pet dander. This is a very effective air filter and I plan on buying another one for my bedroom. I keep this one in my living room and I love the results. When the sunlight streams just right I can see air pollutants being sucked into this thing. I would definitely recommend this and I'm very pleased with this purchase. This is a black tower design Allergen Reducer, air purifier/filter and it has three settings. The setting determines how loud the unit is. There's whisper clean which is low and it's great for quiet night time operations, medium revise a higher fan speed used to quickly filter dust pollen smoke and other pollutants from a room, and quick clean which is high provides cleaning during acute needs and is very effective. Even the quick clean, the highest setting isn't too loud.I love that this is a permanent filter, so no more filters to buy. The filter that comes with the unit can be cleaned and reused, yay!The allergen reducer functions as an air cleaner by helping to remove particulates like pet dander, dust , pollen ,mold and mildew spores and smoke from the air. The air is cleaned and three stages: a fan draws air through the sides of the front panel. The permanent filter then remove particles as small as 3 microns from the air at 99% effectiveness. That purified air is then released back through the back of the unit.
Got this because I seem to be allergic to something in my brother's house. I'm using it in the guest bedroom and it's working so well that I don't need to take my allergy medication. Great price, too. I also followed one user's suggestion and got the air filters (from Loew's hardware) that you put over heating vents. Trim one to size and put it in front of the supplied filter for extra filtration.
I am extremely pleased with this model so far, what a difference it makes.I did a lot of research before buying this model. I looked at a lot of the both the true-HEPA and HEPA-type models and figured in the initial price and the ongoing cost of filter replacement. At issue is cat hair, litterbox odor, and the amount of dust in this 100+ year-old house. I wanted a unit I could place against the wall, rather in the middle of a room. Then I looked at the micron size of what I was trying to get rid of. I decided that true-HEPA was too expensive in the long run, and that no matter what size of mold spore, etc. it filtered out, as soon as I stepped outside I'd be breathing all that stuff anyway.I love how this unit keeps the dust and cat hair down, and neutralizes various odors, its very effective for the 160sq.ft. room its in. On low, its barely audible from a few feet away, though it works best on medium, which generates some noise, but its tolerable and not unpleasant. Its very easy to clean and replace the various filters, they really designed it well. I've notice our propane space heater works much more efficiently, probably since the amount of dust is reduced in the room. The filtered air exits from the side, but actually blows at an angle toward the front of the unit, so I have it placed with the back of it up against a wall. For our issues it is perfect.
I live right off the highway surrounded by hay fields. We have dogs, cats, and kids. Put all those together and we were getting overwhelmed by dust and fur. Even with dusting twice per week, and sweeping every other day, you could still see particles floating thru the air in a stream of light. A lot of particles. I bought 2 of these air filters, one for each end of the house. With in an hour of plugging them in, I could tell a difference in the air I was breathing. That night we turned the flash light on in the livingroom where one filter was, and the particles were nearly gone! My very honest mother came to visit and commented that it smelled like we didn't have pets in the house. (I have a dog with skin allergies who has a distinct odor)They were both unplugged for a few days this week, and I could tell a difference, but I wanted to give them a break. Two nights ago, there was a huge fire near by, and my house was covered in smoke. It was getting in the house to the point I was choking. I turned birth units back on, and with in 45 min-hour, they had cleared up the inside air. These are great little units.
PS I always use with a PRE FILTER. That way the actual filter never gets that dirty and I just lightly hand vac it. I DO CHECK the PRE FILTER about every month and when it looks like it needs changing (pretty obvious), I change it and vac the filter.I have since moved to a very new apartment, but dust and dog hair and sinus issues still exist and still loving the purifier!__________________________________________________________________________________I live in an 1890's house. I don't smoke. I hate the smell of smoke. I have allergies. And my downstairs neighbors chain smoke. I would wake up with swollen eyes and coughing. Nights were the worst because we share duct vents and the house is all closed up at night.I closed the vents, put filters or guards on them. The magnetic floor guard in bathroom helps more than filters, but still can smell the smoke.THIS little air purifier helps a lot. I am planning on getting another, because this is great for my bedroom, but I want another for kitchen. For the money, more than worth it to help my breathing.
