I purchased two of this in Nov. 2011. We especially love the fact that the cap has stainless steel inside. They have been working very well. A few weeks ago, I noticed that one of them stopped working, the outside becomes too hot to touch after a little while if I pour hot water in it. That indicates clearly the insulation is broken. I never dropped the kanteen once so I know it's not because of us. I sent an email to them describing my problem, the customer service responded right away and told me this is covered by warranty. Within 10 days, I received a brand new one!!!I'm really impressed with this experience.
My wife and I have an almost daily habit of driving to get coffee on the way to work. I like the frosty coffee drinks, she likes the hot drinks. Inevitably, I would have to wrap her hot "to go" cup with a few napkins along with that cardboard wafer thing, but even then, on the walk back to the car, my hand would get really hot carrying her drink. Not to mention my other hand getting cold with my iced drink.Worse, we'd go over the same speed bump and have to either endure coffee spilling out or putting my finger over the coffee hole and having my finger get burned. Or, you finally get to the office and her hot coffee is cold, so I'd microwave it...and sometimes the cup would be OK, sometimes it would melt and leak. There had to be a solution.I've always had Nalgene stainless or plastic single walled containers for water or iced tea, but with cold drinks they 'sweat' with condensation and with hot drinks, they got hot. So, we picked up these insulated Klean Kanteen bottles. And have started having the coffee place fill these up instead.First, the double walled insulation means that cold drinks no longer 'sweat' from condensation. And, the hot drinks don't burn your hand. What was really impressive is that her hot coffee stayed hot for about 6 hours...my cold drinks, stayed cold for even longer. So, no more trips to the microwave to reheat. The screw top lids these come with are great in that they don't leak, but are tricky for one handed sipping in the car. Hence the "cafe lids" they have, which are great. You can't turn the canteen upside down (they aren't leak proof) with the cafe lid, but with the slider in the "closed" position, you can definitely go over a speed bump without issue. Not to mention, most coffee places give you a commuter mug discount! This Kanteen is easily the best purchase/solution I've made in some time. If you're struggling with any of the above issues, it's worth checking out these stainless insulated Kanteens. I prefer the look of the metal, but they can dent if you drop them.
I used to go through so many plastic water bottles. I tried to refill them as often as possible but still I used plenty. Not only did I want to stop the waste, but I wanted to switch to filtered water. I made the switch to filtered first and found that keeping a glass of ice water on my desk was really annoying; the condensation left little puddles of water everywhere. I started using a coaster and after a week it got moldy!Enter the Klean Kanteen.Made of food grade stainless steel, it's totally safe and I can stop worrying about the leeching of plastic. There are small amount of plastic in the cap that come in contact with the insides - as well as the gasket which is made of food grade silicon. I tend to keep the kanteen upright so no liquid is coming in contact with the plastic/silicone anyways. If it does, it's not for long. Here's the direct quote from customer service:"The caps for our insulated and wide mouth kanteens are made of bpa and phthalates free polypropylene #5, high quality, 18/8 food grade stainless steel, and the gasket is made of food grade silicone."I now carry my kanteen with me everywhere. I keep it at my desk, by my bed, take it to the gym, work, shopping, leave it in the car when I go somewhere, etc. The insulation is amazing - if you fill it with ice water, the ice won't melt for about 24 hours. Even then, it's still ice cold. There is almost no condensation whatsoever - zero when inside - just a little if I'm out in the hot sun and there's a big time temperature gradient. At my desk it is 100% free of sweat/condensation.I find it's durable - though a little prone to dings and dents - but that's hardly a problem for me. I've really grown to like the little loop on the lid - it's so easy to just scoop it up with a finger or two and be completely sure of my hold on it.I like it so much I actually bought a second one. I now use one for 24 hours then clean it and leave it to dry.
which completely describes this wonderfuly-designed/sized insulated container. It can be carried in a woman's tote bag or just about any soft-sided bag in vogue these days. Yes, there are other containers that also make the same claim but the big difference - immense difference - is that the Klean Kanteen top is as leak-proof as anything I've ever seen, plus the fact that if you pre-chill it before filling it with cold liquids, you will have a cold refreshing drink available all day long. This container is not something I'd attempt to open or use while you might be commuting to work (as in your car while driving or sitting in a bus or train seat enroute to work or wherever) unless you bought the lid designed for that purpose. This container is as leakproof and portable as any I've seen or used - and I have a shelf in my garage full of all the rest, many of which have leaked inside my briefcase and ruined many documents over the years! I use mine primarily on my mountain bike to carry something cold in addition to the 20 oz non-insulated Klean Kontainer I also carry. These are fantastic "kanteens", made of 18-8 stainless and painted in many colors to fit your gender. The finish is as flawless as the construction!
insulated water bottles are amazing and I got Klean Kanteen for the wide mouth option. I've taken this into a sauna and steam rooms for 30 minutes as well as traveling in 100+ degree weather, and the water remains ice cold. Frozen ice remains even hours later.I have a few different ounces in wide mouth bottles, along with the all the different caps. The sizes are helpful, but don't fit standard cup holders. Either it's too small or too big. Otherwise, it's helpful to use the oz bottles for what I need. Also helpful for soup!I thought it would be helpful to have the 3 different cap options, but the standard "loop cap" has been the best. The "wide flip D-cap" seemed nice with the stainless steel loop that folds, but we don't like it. When you're moving with it on foot or vehicle, it tends to constantly tap... get's grating after a few hours of movement. The "cafe cap" should be ideal but the top piece that closes and opens for drinking is not tight or sealed. Liquid comes through that piece even when closed... there's no seal, so it's a bit useless for travel, e.g. normal bumps in a car. If it falls to the side or tilts, then there's a spill. Don't know why they wouldn't make this more travel/movement friendly.
As someone who brings a small amount of quality coffee to work/school/wherever everyday, this is the perfect size thermos. The simple and streamline design fits in a bottle holder of a backpack, the pouch of a messenger bag, and into most cup holders in a vehicle. The simple design also makes cleaning very easy.If after a month or two of use, staining starts to develop, just use a little dishwasher detergent and hot water - shake vigorously to take care of the major stains that dish soap doesn't handle.Overall I really like the size and design of this thermos and highly recommend it.-A note on keeping liquids hot-This will keep liquids hot for the advertised period by using the vacuum sealing technique (fill with hot water before use, empty of hot water then fill with desired contents), however if you want to drink half of the liquid and then drink the other half, say 2 hours later, you're only going to have warm liquid for the second portion. After you crack the top the first time, you will lose a great deal of the temperature due to the loss of the vacuum seal.
I use my Klean Kanteen on a daily basis during school, work, and even at home. It keeps my drinks cold or warm for up ~8 hours I'd say. Sometimes I like to leave cold juice laying around my room just in case I get thirsty, and I've left it overnight to find that the ice hasn't melted. As for the ease of use, it has a great thread design for the cap. It is easy to clean. The wide-mouth thermos works well with those who want to put ice into their drinks as well. Not only does it look great, but build quality is excellent. It's survived, easily, a few nasty drops and can take a decent thrashing. I personally don't go hiking often, so I wouldn't know how this thermos would fair under those conditions. However, it does do well to live through my daily commute.Last thing I'd like to point out is it's modular-ability. It has several caps which can be switched for different circumstances. The only cap its missing is a "cup" cap that might be popular with certain thermoses where you pour the drink into the cap, which acts as your cup. If Klean Kanteen had that, their 20 oz. thermos would be at the pinnacle of its usefulness.Overall, if you want a great thermos around a 20 to 30 dollar price range, look no further.
Not much can really be said of an insulated bottle, so I'll keep it simple.I purchased this for one reason, and that was to keep milk cold enough to make the trip to work. I use the 20oz version to bring skim milk to work so I can mix protein shakes instead of worrying about cooking food for my meals. So far it's done really well at keeping the milk cold. I usually fill it up 2 hours before I go to work and place it back in the fridge to ensure it stays colder for longer. I don't drink the milk for another 4 hours and I have to say it keeps it's taste very well and there is no bitter metal after taste at all. I can't stand to drink milk straight, the smell gets to me pretty bad, so I can tell the difference between good and bad milk very easily. As for the size, it fits well in my cup holder if I want it there for water or coffee and slides easily into my bag. I've had zero problems with leaking (using the loop cap) and I've definitely tried to make it leak (bouncing it off the ground, shaking it, leaving it upside down all night) and not even a drop - I like to make sure it's not leaking before I throw it in my bag with my laptop. Another bonus is that there is zero condensation coming off the bottle, like some other stainless steel products, which is essential if you plan on keeping this around electronics or important documents.I would definitely purchase another one if I had to.
