Taste: 5/5. As others have said, this tea does have an ever so slight “grassy” taste to it. I believe, however, that this is a sign of its quality. If you drink it as a latte, you will most likely not notice.Caffeine content: 5/5. This is an ideal drink for those who are sensitive to caffeine, but still need a little pick-me-up. It gives you a moderate amount of energy that lasts the whole workday, with little to no crash in the afternoon.Dissolvability: 3/5. This powder takes quite a bit of whisking to dissolve. If you have a hand mixer with a whisk attachment, this should be an easy thing to overcome.Price: 5/5. Given the quality of this powder, and how close it is to the ceremonial grade, it’s a great price.Packaging: 4/5. This feels like too much envelope for the amount of tea. This small package lasts a very long time if you don’t drink it daily. It is easy to keep in the fridge, and the zipper opens and closes easily.Overall: 9/10. I don’t know about all the health claims that the manufacturer makes, but this sure is a nice substitute for coffee. In terms of quality, this is probably the best bang for your buck that you can get in the matcha world. If you’re looking for something a little different, and don’t want to waste money, this is well worth a try.
I've bought all sorts of Matcha Tea and really do only want the best with good properties and flavour. This is a great price for getting a very high quality product. I make Matcha latte's every day with either organic milk, coconut or almond milk and it's delicious every time. I don't drink coffee anymore as it gives me the jitters now, whereas Matcha tea gives you energy with no jitters and no 'come down crash'. It also makes me more mentally alert than coffee does.
Matcha is something I didn't really envision liking that much, but this particular brand has drawn me into the craze. I don't really know much about the different grades so I won't try to pretend I'm an expert, but I will say that this is a very flavorful and smooth drink grade. I have given up coffee for the most part because, while I don't understand why, I do know that the caffeine upper from this tea isn't the rocket ride my pour-over coffees were launching me into. This is a very satisfying drink and flavor, and the price of this is very reasonable. Very good stuff.
I have been using matcha off and on for about 8 years. This particular brand is one of the better ones I have had.I like to make iced matcha lattes with dairy free milk and agave or real maple syrup. This brand has good flavor, tastes fresh and herbal/earthy, and had great color. It blends well and doesn't stay clumped if I don't get it smooth enough before adding my DF milk. The few clumps I get break up within 5 minutes or so.I have purchased other brands and they gave my husband and I anxiety. This one has not done that and the little caffeine perk up is a slow lift. I don't get jitters or have trouble sleeping when I have an afternoon latte either. This one is a keeper!!
Great quality. Beautiful green color and good flavor which indicates the freshness of this product. Use this in my morning smoothie as well as a matcha latte with almond milk every afternoon as a healthy treat. I grew up drinking Japanese green tea so know a good product when I taste it. While not ceremonial grade, this is a very good product and blends well into healthy drinks. Highly recommend. Will definitely order again.
I was not sure about getting the Matcha but a co-worker highly recommended trying it. I was amazed. Tastes great and the energy I got was just awesome. I love the flavor. It dissolves quickly with some hot water. Can drink without any sugar too. I have not yet tried it in smoothies but will certainly do so. The seller is great with follow up to ensure I was a happy and I got a e-book with all kinds of recipes to try the matcha. I would highly recommend this product from this particular seller.
I bought this for two reasons. First was that I had been wanting to buy matcha instead of green tea bags because I wanted to get more antioxidants, and, second because I was looking for theanine. My first introduction to matcha was a brand of green tea bag that was a combination of matcha and dried leaves. That tea tasted so much better than all the green tea I had, so I looked it up and found out about matcha. I had also found a brand of green tea ice cream that I could buy in the store and I was hooked, but they have stopped making it. So after getting my package I made tea and also, um, I mixed some Tillamook vanilla ice cream with some matcha powder, because let's admit it, I am not going to make my own ice cream from scratch - and it was delicious! I can make my own green tea ice cream now!I also bought this because I was looking for theanine which is found in green tea, and rather than buying a supplement, I decided to go for this. It was not a hard choice considering that I already wanted matcha. The taste and smell are amazing. I am not an expert but it is very rich in flavor and a little goes a long way. I will definitely buy this again.
Superior matcha tea! This is the read deal! Bright, almost neon green, sweet, grassy, fragrant. Delicious! It may seem expensive, but it really goes a long way since you only use 1/2-1 tsp per serving/latte. I love the feeling of a "clean energy" without the jitters or crash. I mix 1 tsp in about 1/4 hot water and shake in a mason jar until completely dissolved and then add in ice and nut milk. I'm totally addicted! As a side note, since I recently discovered this, be careful when purchasing matcha teas--you get what you pay for. Some have fillers such as brown rice meal--this one really is 100%, delicious matcha-ness!
My first taste of matcha was when my daughter in law's father performed the Japanese tea ceremony. That was ceremonial grade matcha. This is very good for culinary grade. Using about 1/16th tsp in a Japanese tea cup of this matcha add just enough almost boiling water to the cup and whisk in a zig-zag pattern until it is foamy. Add a little more water and whisk again. Fill the rest of the cup with water and drink. Be ready to taste the natural sweetness of the tea that leaves no bitter after taste. There is no comparison to this and a tea bag.I was not paid for this opinion.
