I bought 4 of these to hang from Shepherds Hooks, but once filled with soil and plants they were much too heavy, (from an aesthetic and practical view), so my husband went to Lowe’s and bought forged mounting hooks so we could hang them from our fence posts. The result? 4 beautiful, large planters at the bottom of our garden that are aesthetically appealing and I don’t have any concerns about their weight. In addition, the quality is exceptional, I love the contemporary style & the price was great. In short, these planters were much larger and heavier than I expected, but I’m actually really pleased it worked out that way!
I'm in love with these pots! They're sturdy but light, really well made, the hanging chain is strong enough to hold my enormous ferns easily. I love the way they release the water slowly. It allows the water to really soak into my plants instead of just running right out like cheaper pots do. After a thorough soaking it took a good 18 hours before water was done dripping from them. But there's a well in the bottom of the pot where the water goes, so your plant isn't setting in water the whole time. If your plant doesn't like moisture, I'd recommend a cheaper pot, but for something like my ferns, it's amazing. Within 48 hours after re-potting I had new growth on my ferns already. I'm definitely buying more!
These planters are gorgeous and a great improvement over the stock planter that came with my 10" plant. They are well made, look like they were more expensive than what I paid, and really make the plants look so much prettier. For comparison purposes, I took a photo after I had re-potted the plant on the right. The plant on the left is in the original pot, while the plant on the right has been re-potted into the Keter Round Plastic Resin pot.
I am extremely picky about my pots and planters, so ordering site unseen was definitely a gamble. Resin containers tend to be hit or miss: either they are poorly made with rough lines and edges or they just look super fake. Thankfully, neither was the case with these beautiful Keter planters. I was pleasantly surprised by not only the appearance but also the quality of these baskets. Definitely more money than I usually spend on this type of thing, but felt like they were well worth it upon receipt. My plan is to transplant my second year mandevillas and hang them up on my eastern covered porch. I purchased two sets for a total of four planters. Hope to post pictures after a few weeks of growth!UPDATE: I absolutely LOVE these planters. They are perfect for my wrap around porch! I now have a total of eight as I purchased an additional three sets. My mandevillas spent the year quite content in these. And hoping they do just as well over-wintering in my sunroom!
