I love it, but I just somehow knew I would! When my package first arrived my cat was with me, sniffing the plastic inquisitively. She left briefly and then came back as I was setting up the "kitty cave." My cat wasted no time. She gave it two sniffs and then jumped into the cave. That very first night she slept in the cave, which is unusual since she had other, long-time favorite places to sleep! A word on the cost, if I may: I once knew how to "felt" alpaca wool. I know the tedious, hard work. But I can honestly say that this eco-friendly cat cave is worth every dollar, and then some!!! I look at the cave and know its quality. I'm not sure I could do such a job as this!
This cat cave is absolutely beautifully made and goes well with the decor in our living room. All of the cats love this, although, our largest cat (18 pounds, pictured) seems a little bit hesitant to go entirely inside the cave. Instead, he sits on it or uses it to hide his toys in. Some of the smaller cats will go inside, but for the larger cat, it is more of a toybox for him. We love these cat caves and bought another one which the smaller cat sleeps in.
My cat loves boiled wool so I knew this would be a hit. She is a 10.5 pound Siberian cat so even though her weight is not that big, she's a big cat with a long body. This cat cave is marked as extra large and I wouldn't want it any smaller so if you have a Maine Coon or a Norwegian Forest cat it may be a little on the small side. The colors are nice, I like the design and my cat got in it right away. We're still looking for the perfect place for it in the house. The only downside is that when it came it smelled a little perfume-like. It would be better for the cat (and me) if it just smelled like wool. In fact, I'm thinking of soaking it in room temperature water to get rid of that smell, plus my cat LOVES the smell of wet wool.
This kitty cave is wonderful! At first, I was hesitant to buy one for my cat because I was afraid that he would get too hot. (I should mention that he's my first cat... he LOVES being too hot... so.) He didn't get into it at first... but then my mother thought to put tissue paper inside, like in his boxes, so he explored it more and fell asleep. He seems to feel safer with the entrance at the top as opposed to the side. It is so cute when he pops his little head out to see what's going on. And, of course, "little" isn't the accurate word to use. He is large. I believe he weighs about as much as my cousin's toddler. (She's small for a person. Large cat=Small person.) He has ample cat-room to move around in. AND! The lovely blue decoration on the outside fits with the blue living room decor. And did I mention that it's lovely? (Plus, I decided long ago that my cat's color is light blue. It's the color he looks best in. And, yes, the dog has a color, too.) Included in the packaging was a little sheep! It was so cute and I was so glad because the dog wanted something, too. He's small and old, otherwise I would not have given it to him. I don't recommend giving the little sheep to your dog or cat. It doesn't seem to have been made for that. Truthfully, I wanted to keep it. But a tiny, old dog with a hopeful face kinda ruined that. He's never played with it without supervision and any "wool" that has come off has been thrown away. The story about the kitty cave, about how the wool came from New Zealand sheep and was turned into something wonderful by Nepalese craftspeople, with fair-trade practices and eco-friendliness, makes me like the company even better. Also, the organic catnip that comes with the cave arrives in a sizable tin, so there is plenty. And it is potent. Completely happy with my purchase! And so is my cat!
This is like a cat magnet. I wasn't sure if my cat would like it and I have an 18 lb cat so I didn't know if he'd be able to get in it. Well he loves it and my big cat gets in with ease and has room to spare inside. My cat was a rescue kitty and at first used to hide but since has become a lay in the middle of the floor cat so I wasn't sure if he would still be interested in a hiding bed but he loves it. I think the decorations on the outside make it cute looking but can't help but wonder if it should be on the inside decorating his 'room'.
Best thing ever. My kitty is obsessed. He isn't a hide and nap kitty at all, but this cave has definitely encouraged this to the max!! Very good and natural material. My cat is 15.5 lbs. he fits with room to spare. Very warm instantly! Free catnip was on point. Very fresh and delicious ( according to the cats)
I bought one for my two cats to see if either of them would enjoy it. Since it was a little pricey, I didn't want to buy two if none of my cats took to the first one. As soon as I opened the box, both my cats expressed an interest. Neither of them used it as a cave but both of them loved lying on it. I therefore decided to buy a second one so that they each would have one. They love them and use them constantly. They look so comfy and cosy! About the price, it is totally justified. It is beautiful craftsmanship and the material is very high quality.
