Receiving this item, I wasn't sure what to expect. I received 6 wool balls. The size of each is between a tennis and softball, all the same in size and a cream off white color. There is not a noticeable scent, so I would call it neutral. Seems to help dry my items. Still weaning myself off the dryer sheets simply because I do enjoy the scent. Noting that when I dried a large red cotton comforter, and being that I used the dryer sheets with the wool dryer balls, the dryer sheets came out tinted with red dye, but the dryer balls had not been discolored. I haven't determined yet if the static has been reduced or if they dry better but if putting dry items into the dryer helps as a usual practice, this is a more durable neutral item to use.Overall I am pleased with the purchase.

We have used wool dryer balls for years (much better for us and the environment, also reusable so not spending money on disposable dryer sheets!). We needed to replace a few that the dogs had stolen and eaten, so we purchased these. I liked this particular brand because it was manufactured responsibly in the US. We have been very happy with the product - performs as advertised and is holding up well.A note on wool dryer balls: they do not operate the same way as dryer sheets or fabric softener does. However, chemical softeners are also full of harmful chemicals, cause skin reactions, are not eco-friendly, and are not recommended for moisture absorbing items such as towels and underwear. We have found using wool dryer balls + not over drying the clothing saves money and produces the same result as chemical softeners, and is safe for things like underwear and towels even for sensitive skin.

We love these and have gotten some for family members. No chemical smell from dryer sheets and clothes dry faster. Only a little static if I overdry a load. I have really sensitive skin and there is no itching from the wool at all. Would recommend them!

UPDATE: I've had these almost a year and they are still keeping my clothes soft and generally cling free. They have paid for themselves from the money saved on fabric softeners and dryer sheets. And my towels stay fluffy and absorbent, which they don't when you use dryer sheets.I was skeptical about using wool balls for clothes drying but having had cancer for the third time, I'm getting leery of all chemicals I come in contact with. These guys work great - I love them. I've had them about 3 months and have been pleased with the drying time reduction of about 10 min per big load and the softness of the clothes. It leaves no fragrance, just fluffy clothes. I do try to dry synthetics by themselves to avoid static cling they get if dried with natural fabrics. They do get caught up in clothes sometimes when they are taken out of the dryer but it's kinda fun for me to find them. I just leave them in the dryer between loads. 6 works well for even big loads for me.

So far, I love these little balls. I've used them on two loads already, my clothes are not quite as soft as they were with the liquid fabric softener, but the directions do promise that that should change once the wool pills up some from the tumbling -- so I will have to wait and see.I didn't notice much static; except on a couple of nylon type items, but that happened even with the liquid softener, so... However, what I am most happy about is that they do seem to cut the drying time down some -- at least on the smaller loads. I have yet to try a load of jeans or towels, a quilt or some hoodies. If I remember, I'll try and update once I know.I chose not to infuse the balls with any type of scent, only because I have had problems with oil based scented oils in the past; ruined two tops and my favorite pair of cargo pants-- absolutely covered in those dry-wet looking grease stains that never come out of anything ever again. As for storage, I just let all six of them live in the dryer -- I didn't vary based on load size and don't plan on doing so. One got caught up inside a shirt, twice but I just dig them out as I'm pulling the clothes into the basket and toss them right back in. I think that is the best place to keep them and to keep them clean.

These USA-made dryer balls work great! I haven't used nasty chemical dryer sheets or fluids in forever, but using these balls in the dryer has restored so much softness to things that can feel rough when freshly dried, like jeans. In addition, my dryer loads dry more evenly, efficiently, and more quickly than before. These balls really help for heavier, bigger loads like towels or jeans, but I use them in all my loads now. They do not shed on darker finer clothes. And I don't notice any more noise or disturbing thumps from my dryer, unlike using hard tennis balls, those plastic dryer ball things, or sneakers. This set of 6 seems to do just fine in my large dryer - I haven't felt the need to get a larger number.
