I love the taste, I love the way it fills me up, I love how clean the ingredients are. I've tried so many protein powders but this is my powder of choice. It blends smoothly and tastes so good. It's even good with just almond milk in a blender bottle. I have had chronic stomach problems for about 10 years and when I'm having trouble, I opt for a smoothie. My smoothies always include Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Protein. I used to be a vegetarian, and a vegan, and a raw vegan, but with my sensitive stomach I just couldn't handle all those vegetables. Bone broth is so good for the gut, and if it tastes like chocolate, that's even better. Though not a vegan, it's important to me to make sure anything made with animal products is sustainable and the animals aren't mistreated; Ancient Nutrition does a good job.
I searched high and low for a protein powder which is low in sugar while at the same time high in protein and tasted good. I found it in Ancient Nutrition bone broth which has no bitter or funky aftertaste. I've tried several flavors including Banana Creme, Coffee, Chocolate, Vanilla, and Pumpkin (which I believe is seasonal) and I've liked all of them -- with Coffee the favorite. After my workouts I mix the powder with almond milk, 1/4 cup raw zucchini, 1/4 cup raw cauliflower, chia seeds, and sometimes (depending on the flavor of the powder) that frozen Acai berry puree you can buy at Trader Joe's. Keeps me sated for several hours. Love the stuff and I highly recommend it.Pros: High in protein, low in sugar, many flavors to chose from. Flavors (the ones I've tried anyway) go well mixed with neutral-flavored raw vegetables.Cons: Need to use a Vitamix or other high-speed blender to mix with liquid of choice. Will be full of clumps if you just try to shake it. So don't. The finished product even after using a Vitamix is slightly gritty, but in Ancient Nutrition's defense, I have yet to find a protein powder that isn't gritty!
My neighbor recommended this as she is using it for her son to help heal leaky gut. I have various digestive issues including leaky gut and had tried the Great Lakes Collagen but found that constipated me. This tastes good to great and does not constipate. It's great to sip on with boiling water and a spoonful of Ghee. Add parsley flakes and you have a nice soup. I am adding it to other cooking dishes as I cannot use regular soup mixes as many of them have gluten, corn, xanthan gum or other things I cannot eat. It has a meaty taste with warm water. I drank it mixed with cool water and did not notice the taste as much. I love it and I hope it helps me heal.
Working for a protein ingredient supplier (no, my company does not supply any ingredients for this product), I have tried TONS and TONS of collagen and bone broth products on the market. Flavored animal protein blends often have an "off" flavor, or a strange sweetness that just doesn't play well with the other ingredients. I assumed this product would be the same. However, I was pleasantly surprised! It tastes so good! I now use 1/3 scoop in my coffee everyday.
I have a host of digestive issues (bloating, cramping, gas). Most times when my body is flaring up, I fast for a day or two and stick to a liquid diet. In the past, this has left me tired and cranky because I am not giving my body food that is of nutritional value. I used to make my one bone broth, but when you are sick, the last thing you want to do is go to the store and buy a whole chicken and have it simmer in a crockpot for an entire day. When I saw that many companies started to make their own concentrated bone broth powders, I bought a few to try. Ancient Nutrition is one of my favorites. I don't burb it up, and it digests really well. The taste is more rich than other powders I've tried. And the broth is dark and rich and really tasty! I like to add in some ginger power and sea salt, with a dab of coconut oil, to really give my body the nourishment is needs.
I really like this protein powder. At first I thought it tasted a little weird to me but I put some stevia in it. Now I do not use the stevia at all. I mix it with a half of a banana, one raw egg, 1/2 cup of milk, a little water, and that’s my breakfast every morning. It does get quite foamy in the blender so I run everything first to chop up the banana and then I add the powder last for a quick spin. I would say the only bad thing about it is the hefty price of it.
I have to tell of 3 amazing "miracles" in hopes that it will help others. My daughter has suffered many years with extreme fatigue, brain fog and pain that came without reason. By without reason, I mean she had not done anything to hurt her body but if it wasn't her neck or back, it was her achilles tendons or calf muscle. She has taken many products over the years but never found relief. She started the Bone Broth and added the 6 Collagen Peptide product after a short period. She is so excited because she can now "think"; brain fog gone. She has energy and can even exercise again. Thank you God.A friend was bi-polar, hurting to the point of tears and experiencing neuropathy. The doctors could not pinpoint her problem as she had already had carpal tunnel surgery but her pain was unbearable; their solution pain killers. I suggested she take the Bone Broth and gave her a Shaklee vitamin strip as I knew she did not eat good. Within 3 days her pain started to ease off until it was 90% better. She claimed it was a "miracle".My husband has many complex issues: candida overgrowth, leaky gut, severe allergies(food, mold & chemical) and most recently had the debilitating muscle issues from taking a quinolone drug called Levaquin(he as floxed). When he started the Bone Broth he felt like his brain "woke up". He had more energy and felt good. Progress! He continued to take the Bone Broth and added Ancestrial Supplements of Beef Organs, Spleen, Thymus and finally Bone Marrow. His sharpe pains in his muscles and cramps at night have stopped. I hope this helps someone who has issues with long term side effects of antibiotics. My I say the common denominator her is the Bone Broth. Most of us have leaky gut and don't realize that is a good part of the health picture. I don't believe it is the answer by itself to all problems but I do believe if you fix the leaky gut, a little good nutrition can go a long way. My husband and I both are 73: I take no medicine and he takes blood pressure. He was taking Zyrtec, Day Quil and using inhalers just to be able to make it through the day, every day. He no longer has to do that. We have gone the nutrition route for over 40 years and have learned much by trial and error. God is good even when we don't understand the problems we have!
This stuff has helped me feel so much better! I have been slogging thru adrenal fatigue and pre menopause for a couple years, and since I started drinking bone broth smoothies instead of my usual breakfast, I have been floored at the difference. I keep telling my sister (who clued me in to ancient nutrition) that it is fantastic to feel human again! I don’t generally write reviews, but am so thankful for this change that I had to post something.
First saw this on Dr. Axe's website. I was originally looking for the collagen product, but for dietary reasons the Bone Broth Protein powder was recommend. My family eats organic, preservative free, homemade food. We're pretty active (I workout 30 to 60 mins daily). Despite that I was starting to feel a bit sluggish, I'm quickly approaching 50, and the joint pain was starting to creep up. After a lot of research I decided to give this a go. This is my second month taking it and I have to say I feel really good. Less joint point and I believe quicker muscle recovery after a hard workout. I've tried putting it in smoothies, oatmeal, sprinkling it in cereal, etc, but it got chunking and a bit chalky. Plus, I found that when I put it in oatmeal it tasted pretty awful. What works for me is to drink it straight, dissolving it in hot water. Actually, because of medication I take first thing in the morning I can't have coffee/tea for an hour, so I drink a cup of this instead. I'm not going to lie there is a slight tasted that takes some getting used to, but I got over it in a few days. It's like drinking a really strong cup of chicken broth. Besides less joint pain, I did notice my nails grew stronger, my joints felt stronger and I felt less bloated at the end of the day. That said, don't buy this thinking that you can have bad eating habits and not suffer the consequences. This is not a cure all, but if you're looking for a supplement to compliment an already healthy and active life style I would definitely recommend it. One final note: everyone's different, so your result may not be the same as mine, for me this works great and it doesn't hurt to try.
This protein powder has changed my life. I know that's dramatic to say, but it's true. My daily body aches are gone. I can work out pretty hard and barely get sore. I make a smoothie using it every morning. The few times we'd been traveling and I didn't have it, I could definitely tell after only a few days. My ankles creaked in the morning, general body aches returned. As soon as we got home and I started having it again the body aches disappeared. The days I haven't had it I've wondered how I used to live with so many daily aches before I found this! I've tried multiple flavors and they've all been good. I like the flavor a lot. This is my new all time favorite protein powder. But I will say that my husband and son can't stand the taste and feel like they can taste chicken and nothing else. I personally can't taste that at all, it just tastes like yummy protein powder that mixes well and added a minimal amount of thickness. I can't imagine life without this stuff since my body feel SO MUCH better having used it daily for months now. A little pricey but definitely worth it.
I use this powdered Chocolate Bone Broth Protein in my Bulletproof coffee every morning (my morning breakfast meal). I love the taste and it is by far my favorite flavor, although you would be able to use the Pure (plain flavor) in other recipes or the Vanilla in drinks, especially fruit smoothies. Seems expensive, but I feel stronger, less pain in my hands from my arthritis (although I think part of that is b/c of the Brain Octane oil) since beginning this protocol last March, 2017.
I have purchased this particular brand and flavor for months, I use it in my bulletproof coffee recipe in the morning and it is awesome. I do use a countertop or immersion blender and it mixes just fine. The flavor is mild vanilla with no 'beefy' or 'meaty' aftertaste as I have had with a few other proteins. Will buy this product again and again. Love it!
I've tired every type of protein source available on the market with the result of painful digestion. This one causes me no pain. The chocolate is good especially as a smoothie with berries added. You need to tolerate the taste of stevia.
This is the second Ancient Nutrition bone broth protein powder I've purchased. The products are expensive, but I wanted a protein powder with the fewest possible ingredients since the whole point of smoothies was to incorporate healthier foods into my diet. I first tried the bone broth protein powder as a free sample handed out by the local food co-op. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't significantly alter the taste of my smoothie and that it left me feeling full longer than the smoothie without it. I was hesitant to order the Greens version because of some of the very negative reviews about the taste, but in looking at the ingredients, I decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did. Today's smoothie: almond milk, fresh baby spinach, a scoop of the Greens protein powder, banana, frozen peaches and pineapple, and ground flax seed: a pretty green color and a very nice flavor.
Banana is by far my favorite. I have tried the chocolate, coffee and vanilla. These are so good! I mix with plain water. I do it as a meal replacement 5 days a week and I have Crohns, this is the first of the sort that I have ever been able to stomach.
Just started using this last month. I drink it hot in the morning with a spoonful of coconut oil. I find I'm not hungry for a while after drinking this, it's satisfying. I've noticed that my belly is flatter, no bloating, which is a big plus. Only negative I can find is that is isn't "delicious". I've reordered.
My favorite way to enjoy this is to add to heated Almond milk or Almond Coconut milk. Have not tried with Coconut milk yet. Tastes delicious to me. On my third container now.
No it does not have any flavor (especially beef when it is a chicken bone broth). I've been using this as well as the vanilla and turmeric flavors for over a year and they are all awesome! They do not bloat my stomach like whey protien and they are not foaming at all. In my smoothie I make every morning I use either almond milk or a mixture of coconut milk(canned) and coconut water depending on what type of smoothie I'm making. I have all kinds of digestive issues and this helps a lot! Wonderful thumbs up product,
