After doing extensive research, I chose this Mueller as my first French press and I can assure you, I did indeed make the right choice! I depend on my service dog helping me with daily chores, so when I saw the reviews about glass carafe French presses breaking and shattering, I immediately ruled them out.Having over thirty years experience in design, fabrication and manufacturing, I compared the picture of this Mueller press to others and even without seeing in person, the quality differences were readily apparent. The finish on the formed stainless steel carafe is beautiful inside and out. The welded seams are done with excellent quality and polished smooth without any blemishes. Unlike many others I looked at in stores, the Mueller plunger rod has superior rigidity to ensure a long useful life. The screen filters fit perfectly and do not have sharp edges or points as is common in other brands; this attention to detail makes the Mueller much easier to clean as even my moringa, green and black tea blend easily rinses off without need to disassemble the screen assembly. The superior smooth finish on all the components also makes for easy cleaning of the entire press.Size does matter and the generous capacity means you can make one pot to last or have plenty enough to share with a friend. I have brewed from as little as one cup for my wife to a full load for me and this Mueller press works perfectly every time. What I really like is the double-wall insulating qualities which not only maintains temperature for the duration of the brewing cycle, but keeps the unused portion plenty hot enough for at least an hour as I'd forgotten that there was some left - typically I consume it all in less than thirty minutes. What does it make? Everything and it does an awesome job every time too! Like anyone who is familiar with industrial machinery, the first thing we do with any product is give it a complete and thorough test-run. In short, this Mueller passed with flying colors and as we say in the US Navy ... Bravo Zulu!Loose tea - you bet. I had no idea that cutting open the tea bag and dumping the contents into this Mueller press would make such a HUGE difference in taste! I got some green tea pre-packaged in the common tea bags and it quite literally tasted like wet newspaper when brewed in the bags. I was sorely disappointed in the tea which is supposed to be a "premium" product as far as boxed tea bags are concerned. When I removed the tea from the bags and brewed it in this Mueller press it was a night to day difference and it turns out the tea is actually wonderful tasting when it's not in the bags.I've gone on to brew loose whole-leaf gunpowder green tea and various sizes of chopped tea leaves from very course whole and broken moringa leaves to very finely chopped Oolong leaves. Same with coffee, this press works great with course and regular drip/percolator grinds with the only difference being that the coffee made in this Mueller press is sooooo much more tasty and satisfying! Contrary to popular opinion, I did indeed try using espresso grind coffee in this Mueller press and it does work; however, one must apply due diligence and common sense to press very slowly and allow the filter screens to do their job correctly. If you're impatient and force it, it's not going to work right so just take your time and let the press do what it's supposed to do.In closing, I highly recommend this Mueller press as the go-to for all brewing needs!MarkKw
I like this French press almost as much as I wanted to. It's good-looking, solid, and does its job beautifully. I've been using Boda glass pots for years, and they're fine, especially the smallest ones, but the big ones that make enough for company get broken easily. This time I wanted one that would last. This one does everything I want. There's a few drawbacks, of course - it's heavy compared to the plastic-and-glass ones, and all the pieces clank when they're bumped together. The thing I could wish for, though, I hadn't thought of before I bought it: When you're not making a full pot, and the water level is low inside, you can't see it (because it's not glass) when you put in the plunger and push down. You have to guess how far to push. Hasn't been a problem though. But it does have a real surprise! It makes REALLY HOT coffee. You'll definitely have to let it cool before you can drink it. That's fabulous.
The glass in my old French press broke and I needed to get a new one, I searched the internet and stumbled upon this one...so far it’s been amazing, it’s large, perfect for my horrific coffee drinking habit! I drink two huge mugs of coffee per day. There are some negative reviews that say this French press doesn’t keep coffee hot, well they are wrong, of course if you go to take a shower for half an hour while the coffee is brewing, it’s not going to be as hot as it would have been if you only waited 5-10 mins, but it still stays pretty hot and steamy when I pour a second cup after about 20 minutes. This French press is heavy in a good way, it’s thick which allows for the heat to stay in longer. The top also slides on really nicely and doesn’t have any gaps or wobbling so you know it really traps the heat inside and also will make sure none of the ground coffee will slip into your cup when pouring. I don’t usually write reviews but I really wanted to for this one. It’s my favorite product at the moment and it looks very slick on my counter with the rest of the stainless steel appliances. Definitely recommend!!
This product is an example of how to sell something common and making it premium. I am using the Mueller double walled French press to serve coffee for at least 3 people in the morning. The large 1 L size makes at least 300mL for everyone to take to go.My method takes at least 4 to 8 min usually. The first 4 is minimum steep time and another 4 to have the grounds settle. In my previous glass version, 8 min would cool the coffee far too quickly. With the double wall, the coffee is still piping hot after the 8 min. As a backup, the steel double mesh filter screens out finer grit from getting into my drinking vessel. The coffee is not only hot but full bodied and flavorful.Since it's a 1 L French press, cleaning is easy. I just put my hands in and dig out the coffee compost. I wouldn't use anything abrasive on the inside obviously so a bottle brush would also work. One worry I had was steel may impart some off flavor but I did not sense this; though I use reverse osmosis water and freshly roasted, just ground coffee to make sure it's not too acidic.I'm glad I made the purchase. It's something I will use for a long time.
What a totally awesome experience: it’s around 11 am Sunday and the USPS, yes the mailman, rings the doorbell delivering my new french press as my friend and I are about to sit down for her birthday brunch. I’m considered a coffee nut because everything matters from the whole coffee bean, the amount and temperature of the water and equally as important is the brewing device The Mueller french press makes one of the most superb coffee, significantly better than my previous press, keeps the brew steaming hot and with ZERO grounds in one of the best cups of home coffee I’ve ever had. It’s simple to clean and for those as clumsy as me, it didn’t break or even dent on its breakthrough fall hitting the floor. I highly recommend this very affordable french press.
I was looking for a nice, rugged stainless steel coffee pot that I could take camping. All the other products I looked at had a glass window at the top, and I was afraid it would get broken. Also, the reviews for these other products stated the percolators didn't work correctly or the finish (if ceramic) would chip and rust. When I noticed this product, I liked that it was a solid, all stainless steal design, and that it didn't use filters. Unfortunately, since the pitcher is double-walled, it is not to be used on a stove top. However, this design does keep your coffee warm longer and there's little risk of burning yourself. You must heat the water before adding it to the pitcher and mixing in the coffee grounds. I use Folger's Black Silk coffee grounds, and I didn't have an issue pressing the grounds or hot water being forced out. This product is simple to disassemble/reassemble, so cleaning it is easy. At this time, I don't have a use for the grounds container. Overall, I give this product 5 stars and highly recommend it to others. I would like to see this company design a similar product that is more suitable to the outdoors (can be used over a campfire). Until then, this is the one I'll bring along.
So originally I received a faulty French Press plunger. But without prompting, the owner messaged me promising a new replacement and refund. This alone deserves 5 stars. The French Press works great except for the faulty plunger. It has kept my tea/coffee warm and I got a lot of compliments at work. I will update this review when I get the replacement. I'm sure the new one will have no problem. Also, the price is very competitive compared to other French Press of the same caliber. Highly recommend just because the owners actually care about their customers. We need more caring businesses like this one, so I say let's support them!!Update: the owners kept their words and delivered a new French press. It works great with no problem. I'm still it daily after all this time. It keeps my coffee hot. I take my time when drinking coffee and when I come back for a second round the coffee still has steam coming out. Highly recommend!!!!
Super sleek design! I love that this is makes about 4 cups of coffee which is the amount that I drink a day. Kept my coffee warm for about 3-4 hrs. However the taste does change so I would recommend putting the remainder in a thermo if you’re not going to drink it within the hr. It filters pretty well, no grinds in the coffee which I’m very happy about. Overall a solid French press!
This press is not only aesthetically pleasing, it's likely to last for the rest of my life. I particularly appreciate the extra instructions in the booklet, like assuring the best brewing temperature. This will be a standard appliance in my kitchen!
I’ve been using this French press to make coffee every morning since I received it. It is performing really well, with no grinds in my coffee mug. We have a burr grinder so I’ve been tryiny different levels of coarseness and so far, so good.
