So far I’m really enjoying this tea. I usually drink DoMatcha and I loved that. This one may be a good replacement if your looking for bang for buck. The consistency is smooth, the flavor is good, color is on point, and I feel the energy. So it’s checking the boxes. This is one that I’d like to give a serious side by side comparison, which I would’ve had I not run out DM before this order came. Curious what other DoMatcha drinkers think.
Love green tea and this is a great product and so good for you, but I realized that I don't prefer really potent green tea. It did not go to waste, though as I added it to my smoothies until I finished it (I could still taste it a bit through the fruits! ha!) If you're a serious green tea lover, this is for you. Think I'll stick with green tea bags versus the powder.
I was looking for Good Green Tea powder for long time. Very hard to find good quality one in US. I ordered Pure Zen and Culinary this time. Pure Zen is very tasty and I like to drink with Japanese crackers or fruit ... I am drinking every night after dinner now. I can’t wait to use Culinary for cookies or Ice cream!!!
Although it took me a little while to create the perfect matcha, the company has been very helpful and responsive to my questions and concerns. The ceremony of making matcha with this set makes it into a mindfulness practice which I very much enjoy.
I'm an amateur matcha drinker. Have always liked it but recently started buying it to make at home into latte. Based on all the matcha I have had (which is a lot) I like matcha that's a little more grassy tasting but this is still very good. Not bitter and blends well. If you've had starbucks green tea latte (matcha) or creamistry's matcha ice cream you'll like this. (Just a couple places I think are popular enough that people will know and have tasted from to compare to)
This is real ceremonial-grade Uji, Kyoto matcha green tea. On my last trip to Japan, I visited the are where they grow these and showed them the tin can. They were very nice and even let me leave with a few new tea leaves. The taste is exceptional. Full pure ceremonial match taste. Not overpowering. No chemical or nasty overly grassy taste. I really recommend this brand.
I did a lot of searching before I decided on this as my first matcha product and it does not disappoint. It tastes great and I definitely feel a boost of energy from it during the middle of the day.
Pricey, but worth it. Great taste with almond milk. Nice product. Love the name: MATCHA MOON - sounds dreamy, and tastes great prepared.Compared with Starbucks - mine is just as good and cheaper!
Love it! Tried different brands, and this is the best one so far. I had 3 different brands of matcha at home, so did a comparison. Compare to others Matcha Moon Uji has a vibrant green color, smells fresh and tastes heavenly. I initially was introduced to culinary grade matcha, and found it tasting great until tried ceremonial grade - it's a totally different experience! I thought it couldn't get any better until found this brand. Took matcha drinking to a different level.
This is a review of "pure zen" grade.I ordered and received a 100gm tin.The tea was well packed in a foil bag inside a covered tin.The color is a pleasant jade green, however, the taste has too muchbitterness for a ceremonial grade tea. Umami is noticeable, but not outstanding. This was prepared in a standard way, using 2 gm of tea, and whisked in waterof 175 F.In short, good, but not as good as other ceremonial grade teas I have tried. This is an edit of my original review:After trying several bowls of this tea, I lowered the water temperature slightly and without decreasing the amount of tea used, there was a noticeable improvement in the flavor and decrease in bitter taste. Umami became more noticeable.this is a very fine powder which readily suspends in water without clumping. It passes very rapidly through a strainer. In short, I have changed my mind and really like this tea. I have not been induced by the company to upgrade my review.
I LOVE MATCHA MOON!! Excellent quality, excellent taste!! I use Spring Zen for sipping, lattes, and baking! Spring Zen is truly flexible which is why I love it. The Pure Zen is best for sipping tea! (just straight up matcha and water). Also, the company is very accessible so if you ever need customer service they would be super reliable. Highly recommend this product!
I was using another very excellent matcha brand and stumbled upon this one. What I liked about the product description was the locale of the tea which is important since Japan had environmental problems, how it's prepared, and above all the proper way to prepare match tea. Which I was doing all wrong. So I got this tea and as much as I like the other, I have to say this one is superior in taste and depth. The color is rich green without sediment sinking to the bottom. I start each day with a glass of this, I usually make it the proper hot way the night before and put it in fridge as I prefer cold drinks in the morning. I like the earthiness of the tea but others might prefer to add honey or vanilla or anything.
I ordered 100g of the Pure Zen and it is fantastic! I got my order yesterday and have not been able to stop drinking it. I had a cup (the traditional way with a bowl and whisk) last night and then took some to work today (a few teaspoons of matcha powder with a ball whisk in ~20 of hot water). The taste is smooth, with a light earthy taste, and not bitter at all. The color is vibrant, jade green. I highly recommend this product and will purchase again soon!
After returning from Japan, I ordered several brands of ceremonial grade Japanese matcha to drink at home. When they arrived, I compared them side by side in a single-blind color comparison and taste test. I found the texture and color to be most pleasing: very fine with a more rich blue-green color than the others. In the taste test, Matcha Moon also came in first. The taste was full and somewhat sweet with very little bitterness. The amazing thing was that this was the Spring Zen matcha. Now I am very excited to try the top quality Pure Zen with more sweetness and without bitterness. If even the second grade version of this product beat the top grade of several other brands, I can't wait to taste the top grade!
I steep a teaspoon full in two ounces of hot filtered water for 2 minutes, then pour the green tea over ice and add more cold filtered water., I liked it iced! Gives me energy, and my metabolism kicks in about 45 minutes later.
After a lot of research, I decided to go with this product as a clean Japanese matcha, with a good record of reviews. It is triple sealed, and the quality of product seems outstanding. I have used several times now and the taste is also superior to most I've tried. Very pleased with this product, will definitely order again.
I just recently fell in love with green tea lattes. I had my first one at Starbucks a month ago. I loved it more than coffee! I don't like sugar in my drinks, though. The latte I had was a little sweet. I also am used to drinking good Japanese senchas. So I decided to start making my own.I did a little research and purchased this product for several reasons:* I understood it was not bitter.* I wanted a high quality product to start with, so I would know what some of the best matchas taste like first. I probably won't be able to buy this expensive matcha for daily use, but I after having it I can shop for other matchas that I like for that purpose.* I wanted a Japanese tea. For many years, I haven't had a Chinese tea that I like. They all have a bitter tang on my tongue.* I wanted tea that was grown far from Fukushima.I made my first matcha at home from this tea. It was a little clumpy (I didn't do a good enough job of mixing and don't have a whisk yet) but the tea came out just fine. It was very delicious and smooth tasting. I got to the end and realized, I don't even want milk with this tea. I just want to drink this tea plain with water. It's that good. There was absolutely no bitterness. It was just a gentle flavor. So very lovely.I really am very pleased with this little tin of tea, yet was really surprised by the small amount of tea that you get. When you empty the tea (it is packaged in plastic) into the tin, it comes to about 3/4 full. It's a very very small amount for the price. This particular matcha will be saved for a treat.I have to say I feel quite nice after this wonderful tea.
