These just like other rainbows get more comfortable with time. These are a great alternative to the usual leather sandals. Perfect for rainy days too
My husband has worn this exact style of sandal since high school (he’s 35 now) and can’t live without. One pair will last for 2-3 years with regular use as long as they don’t get wet often which is a testament to their high quality. True to size.
I have had them for a little over 6 months now, I wear them everyday and they are still holding up very well. The quality is amazing! This is made from hemp so it is the vegan option in comparison to the leather Rainbow sandals. In the beginning they may feel a bit too sturdy, but the more you wear them, the better they become. The fit gets better and the move more with your feet. Takes a couple weeks for them to break it. But once they do, they are a very reliable sandal. Would purchase again, any day.
Husbands favorite flip flop brand...for those not familiar with rainbows...that have to be broke in. I recommend getting them wet and then wearing them. They will form to your natural curvature of your foo. My husband is flat footed and I have a high arch and they are perfect for both of us.
Great for people with sweaty feet. The hemp absorbs the sweat and the sandals hold up really well. I have worn these to numerous festivals all summer long and they still look and feel great. The black will fade a bit but its not the end of the world.
Rainbow flipflops are as great as people say they are! I wear a 10.5 in pretty much all shoes. I ordered the Large and they ended up being just a little too small. After returning them and upgrading to the XL the sizing is perfect. They were slightly uncomfortable/tight fitting at first, but as I walked around in them more and more they wore in nicely. They are now my favorite flip flops I have ever owned. At the price they are slightly expensive, but totally worth the money!
I'm a girl and cannot wear the ladies rainbows because they are too narrow for my feet. I ordered the men's adult medium and they fit perfectly. I wore my last pair of hemp rainbows into the ground as you can tell by the picture, so it was definitely time for a new pair. They take a little bit of time to break in, but my feet do not hurt after wearing them for extended periods of time. I am also a flip-flop year round type of person so I get my use out of them. The only thing I would not recommend is using them around water. It tends to shorten the life of the flip-flop and eats away at the hemp which voids the warranty because it breaks away the top layer of the sandal. If you have really sweaty feet, they will discolor, and I have noticed that they dry my feet out as well. But it is worth it for the comfort and versatility of these flip-flops! I highly recommend them.
Keep in mind these are the only sandals from Rainbow that 50% of the bottom is felt as to reduct import costs from China under the 'slipper/house shoe' tax. This is similar to the cheeper pairs of Converse All Stars. I have a few US made pairs of various Rainbows as well. The felt wears off in a couple weeks of use. It is not really a big deal, but a little slick at first, keep in mind or use some light sandpaper to remove. I also noted that these seem to be softer than my other pairs, and require a much shorter break in period. I am thinking this will also mean that they will wear out a little quicker, but I am okay with this as these are less expensive than the other pairs as well and names for a more comfortable fit out of the box. Also although Rainbow says the soles are the same, the bottoms of these seem to be wearing faster than my other pairs. Again, i don't really mind that much as they are sandals, not running shoes. Overall I am very happy with these and like them as a second set to wear on days I am not wearing the leather ones. Got these as a 'beach' pair anyway.
Rainbow has never failed to meet my expectations. I assumed that because it was cheaper than the trademark leather rainbows that the quality would be mediocre but i was pleasantly surprised. Quality is great and the sandals don't hurt your feet like the leather ones do when you first purchase them and it takes time for it to conform to your feet. First hemp rainbow slip ons and satisfied in taking the gamble with rainbows besides the leather ones!
These are very comfortable sandals once you get them broken in. At first, they will very tight and uncomfortable, but don't worry. After you wear them for about a week they will fit great. The sandals mold to your feet and will become very comfortable. A few tips for breaking them in: First, submerge them in water while on your feet, and then wear them around while they are still wet. This will stretch the fabric and help speed up the break in process. Do this a few times. Second, wear them around the house as much as you can, and try it with socks (not a great fashion statement, but it certainly makes them more bearable to wear). Lastly, store them with tennis balls wedged under the straps to keep them from shrinking back.
These are possibly the most comfortable flip flops I've ever bought. The hemp is a lot better at staying on my foot when wet than neoprene or rubber. One thing - as with all new flip flops they're pretty uncomfortable at first. When I first tried them on I thought I had made a terrible mistake; they're feel VERY tight, but keep wearing them and by the 3rd day they feel perfect. Buy the exact size you need - don't go up or down - and it'll be fine. I do wish I had opted for the double layer, the single layer is a bit lacking for my personal needs (I have flat feet and need a lot of arch support), but that's not Rainbow's fault, its mine. I will be buying these again, and go for the hemp double layer next time.
I bought these for my husband to replace his burlap ones. I read a review where the person said he was a 10.5 and the Large didn't fit him. Since my husband is a 10.5 I figured I better size up and get the X-Large, but they were far too big. So if you're a true 10.5 then get the Large. But this has nothing to do with the quality of the sandals. I also have the women's hemp ones. These sandals take maybe a few days to break in, but then they are molded to your feet and become the best sandals ever. They don't slide around on your foot the way rubber or leather sandals would. My husband also said the hemp was much more comfortable than the burlap ones. But again, only get the XL if you really are a size 11 or 12.
I've worn flip flops (or phillipe phillopes as they call them here in the south of france) almost daily for 20 years. You might say I'm a flipflop connoisseur. Or you might say I'm a dirty, french bum. I've flipflopped between everything from quiksilver and billabong to prada and gucci, but after I flopped on my first pair of hemp rainbows I never flipped back. These have it all:+ sturdy construction: only reason I ever buy new ones is because the old ones get too dirty. I've never once broken a pair despite all the miles I put on them.+ comfortable: stiff enough to not be flimsy and uncomfortable hiking to the natural pools on the Toiny Coast of St Bart's, but soft enough to not hurt your feet after a day of laying around. Most importantly, the strap never chafes you when it gets wet or becomes misshaped after too much salt and sun.+ light: many of the fancy flip flops are trying to be shoes, but like any race car driver will tell you: lightness is everything.+ good looking: simple, understated, and elegant. They're like a one of those linen suits James Bond wears whenever he's in the tropics. With a different brand these could be three times the price. You will see a lot of choices for these. Make sure to select the following:1. your true shoe size; you don't have to worry about these being lose because you're not wearing socks; I wear 46(EU) or 12(US) and XL for these.2. hemp; this is the whole point of these; much better than leather because they're unaffected by (salt) water3. single layer; flip flops are supposed to be light and simple; trust me.4. natural color; granted this is a personal choice and the downside to natural (beige) is that it gets dirtier faster, but it's not that bad and you can wash these and it looks much better imho than black or brown.
Definitely a great, comfortable shoe, and great alternative to the chemical plastic, rubber, or leather sandals that are sold in most stores. The material is extremely comfortable and durable. The thong part WAS a bit tight at first, but after wearing them twice, they've broken in nicely. That's the cool thing about these shoes, instead of you having to get used to them, they adjust according to how your feet are shaped. Also, if they begin to smell unpleasent after wearing them frequently, simply wash them with a little bit of laundry soap and hot water by hand, rinse thoroughly, and dry them in front of a small fan. Great product!
I can't believe some goof gave these fine flops a bad review! I finally had to hang up my last pair of "eco flops" from another company as they were biodegrading before I was done with them. So enters the Rainbow hemp sandal, and yes the strap was stiff and tight. SO.....I soaked the straps in hot water to loosen the natural hemp fibers slipped them back on and just kicked around the house and backyard for a day. Do not be scared of these, or the burlap ones for that matter, go natural! Do you really want some nasty petro-chemical rubber leaching who knows what into your body through your sweaty feet?
Great, quality sandal that lasts. I wore my old pair of these exact same sandals since 2007. The only reason I bought a new one is because after 5/6 years, the soles had run so thin that it was basically completely smooth and flat, which caused me to start slipping sometimes. But the "thong" part of the sandals never gave up, never broke or anything. The great thing about these sandals is that they mold to your feet the more you wear them. At first they will feel stiff and even maybe uncomfortable, but like a good pair of boots, after a week or so they start molding to your feet and before you know it they feel FANTASTIC.They are made of durable hemp which is why they last so long. A+ product.
