Having lived through 3 different local fires, with the air filled with reek and ash, making breathing at all difficult, the Levoit air filters were truly indispensable. We have a large one in the living room and one in each bedroom. The air quality was horrible and the filters turned on, worked at full capacity for several hours and then slowed down as the interior air quality improved. This is the first local fire experience where we don't have a residual smokey odor everywhere. The filters significantly reduced the ashy dust -- they did not eliminate the dust, and we will have to do a deep clean once the fires are out in the fall; but they made breathing possible.
My husband purchased this hepa filter to help with our allergies, the dander from our dog and the smell of my cooking. When The house starts to smell a little doggie I can't stand using the Glade plug-in's because they run out so fast and the chemicals are not the best choice. I have the on switch connected to my phone app and I can turn it on whenever it is needed and it has helped with the dog smell. When I BBQ or make bacon I hate how the smell lingers all day. So, I turn on the hepa filter with my phone and the smell miraculously goes away in a couple of hours.I have not had to take my allergy medicine for about a year now. I told my brother about this product and he is going to try it out for himself. We just reordered the replacement filters and they may be a little pricy, so we will try to order just the filter somewhere else. I definitely recommend this to everyone!
These fit the original Levoit air purifier just fine. Both the Hepa and the Charcoal filter come together in this package. While this is a two pack and you save a couple dollars, they are expensive and do not last all that long if you use the filters daily on high speed which is disappointing (a few months really because the Hepa filter starts to restrict airflow). The air that comes out of the air filter does smell clean though (if clean air had an official smell). While I wish they were cheaper (and that you could buy the charcoal filter separately to save more money) I will not buy the unofficial filters, nor am I disappointed in buying the original purifier because it really does eliminate odors and collect particles from the air well.
We had a huge fire in Santa Barbara last year and the air was literally unbreathable, so I purchased the air filter machines that go along with these filters and not only do they look lovely and are pretty quiet for the job they do, but I was also drawn to the fact that you have to change the filters and not wash them, which I know sounds wasteful, and it is, but I didn't have the best confidence in the washable filters with the amount of muck that was in the air. After the air got better after the fire I kept them because I have a cat, and it is shocking every 4 months or so when I have to change them how much crap they keep out of the air.
