Just after a quick glance at some of the older reviews about this product, I felt the need to show the product I received today. I just started seed cycling and needed these raw seeds so I ordered this 2 lb bag to get started.Flavor - they taste like sunflower seeds...what more can I say.Value - I found a local health food store that sells cheaper by the pound so will probably get from there going forward but not because this product is bad. It's just a store I already frequent and if I can save money, why not?Freshness - No issues there.Packaging - Don't be a goober like me and cut the top of the bag open to get to the zipper...you will not be able to reseal it LOL. I didn't see the "start here" tab in the top left and ended up having to dump the whole bag into an air tight container to maintain freshness. Oops...As you can see above, they ARE stamped USDA organic, contrary to what many people are saying. It is also on the back of the package in writing instead of the usual logo. These may have been a product of China at some point, but they have switched distributors. My bag came from Bulgaria. For those who don't like anything but American grown, I am with you to a degree. In today's world it's just not a reality. Yes, I avoid China for the most part but other countries actually have HIGHER standards than we do. Look into them.As far as pasteurization goes, it too is a reality in the US. Unless you are picking your own nuts and seeds, or know the grower personally, you're going to get pasteurized to some degree, even with raw and organic. It's a food law. It doesn't make them worthless in nutrients albeit, they are not up to their full potential as they would be coming straight from the plant/flower/tree.
Vitamin E is very hard to obtain from food sources and sunflower seeds is one of the better sources for this vitamin. Unless you like taking pills. Taste is good and I prefer this over non-organic versions. Cheaper than sprouted sunflower seeds, which has an altogether different taste.
I've been eating a spinach salad with sunflower seeds every night for over ten years. This purchase is the first from Sincerely Nuts. In ten years I haven't eaten sunflower seeds a fresh and flavorful. The kernel is smaller than the bulk sunflower seeds I've been buying, making no difference. The overall texture, freshness and flavour are far and away superior to anything I've purchased in the past. I will be reordering.
I bought these seeds for the small birds who have difficulty with shelling the black oil sunflower seeds. I mix them with the black oil seeds. It works great! The chickadees, titmice, and wrens love them. All is well at the feeder until the doves and cardinals come. Doesn’t take long to clean the feeder. Since the seeds are for the birds, I prefer the non-organic which is cheaper. This was not available at the time of my order.
I am thrilled with these sunflower seeds. I use them on salads and in my protein bread that I make to go with my breakfast smoothie. I have not run into a rancid seed yet. I keep them in the freezer to maintain freshness after opening.
I wanted raw sunflower seeds, and I found them in this brand. They have to be alright, as I use them for sprouting, and I have them growing roots as I speak. I have tasted a few sprouted ones, and they taste good to me.
Packaging is good and sealed well. Product is sold at a good price and came right on time. Seeds don't seem to be quite as tasty as the ones we have gotten in the past, but they are still good and quality is very good.
I know there are a lot of negative reviews about this being organic or not because it does say on the back it's from China. Personally, I never cared if my product was organic so this didn't bother me. I didn't find them to be stale or anything. I like using these as a salad topping and they are perfect for that.
Product is exactly as described. Great Product.
I usually like lightly salted and roasted and I mistakenly ordered organic unroasted and unsalted but I am good with it and will just be more careful next time.
